Love Lives Here
Our Love Story
Late into the year 2017, on an unsuspecting hot afternoon when Bcom Accounting students dashed towards the A Les lecture venues for an afternoon class at the University of Johannesburg, the love story of Craig and Slindokuhle was to begin in the most unimaginable way.
The two meet at the expense of punctuality, they both arrive earlier than the scheduled time for the lecture to begin. Craig (being the socialite that he is) navigates through different social groups, greeting all the familiar faces until he runs into a fellow church mate who happens to be standing and talking with Slindokuhle. Craig lays eyes on Slindokuhle and is immediately smitten, he is even more smitten when he realizes that her native is actually Zulu as Craig had since fallen in love with the culture.
Craig took the opportunity to flex his isiZulu skills by attempting to woo her in her own language. YES! You definitely read that right and as clique as it sounds the moment Craig laid eyes on Slindokuhle it was definitely love at first sight!
He asks for Slindokuhle’s homestead address so that he can send the cows to pay Lobola!
You guessed right, he didn’t have the capacity to pull that off on the first day of meeting her, and she laughed it off and never took Craig’s stance seriously, but it is important to note that this day Craig had made his decision.
Slindokuhle was a hard rock to crack, despite cracking up at Craig’s jokes on the day and even blushing to his charming words and his tame attempt at isiZulu she politely declined the request by Craig to share her mobile numbers so that he could get to know her better.
Craig had to take the rejection by the chin, but he also took it as a challenge and immediately realized that the onus was on him to give Slindokuhle a reason to give him a chance.
Fortunately for him, the socialite skills came in handy as the aspiring accountant had to go undercover and gather some intelligence on who this young lady who took him to Loveland is.
Fast-forward from the undercover work, Craig came out a victor and managed to get Slindokuhle’s number. All he wished and prayed for is that Slindokuhle gave him a chance to speak his way into her heart, and his prayers were answered.
It would take a period of about 3 months of Craig proving his worth to Slindokuhle with constant communication and dates. Mid-September of 2017 Slindokuhle was willing to finally give Craig a platform to nature the love he claimed to have for her and the rest is history.
On the 4th of December 2022 after 5 years of a journey less than perfect, Craig drives down to KZN, Empangeni to honour Slindokuhle and bring the cows that he promised on the first day.
On the 16th of December 2022 the two will become one flesh.
